Our Galleria area oil and gas client is seeking a long term contract HR Specialist! The most qualified candidates will have strong experience in benefits, including how they relate to payroll, excellent communication skills, and a confident, outgoing demeanor - in addition to a 2-year degree.

Projected Start Date is mid to late August


The main focus of the temporary position is to assist with day-to-day operations and coordination of legally required and company-provided benefits. Communicates with HRIS customer service, HR team, benefit vendors and employees. Provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of HR programs. Performs general functions for employees in Houston, TX and White Plains, NY.


Health/Welfare Benefit Plans

-Responds to requests for information from employees, vendors, HR team

-Develops a working knowledge of company’ s current benefit plans and HRIS data requirements

-Ensures HRIS records are accurate as they pertain to health & welfare benefits

oSolves enrollment issues and updates HRIS

-Updates benefits invoice file for Accounting team payables on a weekly basis

-May assist with fitness club reimbursements, commuter benefits and paid time off programs

-Coordinates and monitors life events; ensures benefit changes are processed and completed within the 31-day window

-Enters terminations into HRIS, monitors COBRA activity in HRIS

-Open enrollment

oAssists with preparation for upcoming year (2019) and benefits communications to employees

oAssists with annual enrollment records audit prior to Jan 1 effective date

oAssist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process

-New hires

oProvides enrollment materials to new hires and assists with questions; ensures enrollment accuracy and completion in HRIS

-LOA requests and leave status

oExplains company LOA process and ensures all documentation is received from employee

oEnsures all employee forms are processed and facilitates claims management activities

oCoordinates Short and Long-Term Disability, Parental and Family Leave benefits, and return to work accommodations; applies federal and state laws throughout the medical LOA process

oUpdates LOA data in HRIS employee record and ensures correct payroll actions take place

Assists with 401(k) plan

-Ensures HRIS records are accurate as they pertain to retirement plans

-Assists with communication efforts to employees

-May assist with testing for annual filing of Form 5500


-Communicates benefit deductions and adjustments to Payroll vendor as needed, considers payroll schedule when working with benefits actions

-Assists with internal and external audits as needed


-Communicates and collaborates with International working teams

-Assists with I-9 audit and re-accomplishment of I-9 as needed

-Scans and develop new library with appropriate separation of information

-Safeguards employee information, complies with HIPAA regulations, maintains confidentiality in daily operations

-Exhibits flexibility in work assignments; understands changing priorities and compressed project deadlines

-Escalates issues to HR Management as needed


-Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

-Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other office tasks

-Intermediate oral and written communication skills

-Experience working with multi-culture office environment preferred

Monday - Friday, 900am - 500pm, 1-hour lunch (35-hour week)
