Our North Houston fabrication client is seeking an immediate contract to hire Shipping & Receiving Manager! The most qualified candidates will have 4+ years industry focused shipping and receiving management experience, in addition to a 4-year degree and excellent computer and people skills!

Will report to General Manager, and interact extensively with Purchasing, Production, Accounting, Quality Control and Shilling and Receiving


·         4+ years’ experience receiving raw steel products and shapes from both steel mills and warehouses

·         Computer software skills required – MS Office, industry

·         Working knowledge of the various grades of structural steel products and shapes used in structural steel fabrication preferred

·         4-year degree strongly preferred



·         Maintains files representing all items that are on order but have not yet been received on all open purchase orders

·         Turns in receiving information to the office at least twice daily

·         Inspects material receipts

·         Compares material receipts to the Purchase Order requirements

·         Inspects for nonconformity and damage

·         Works with Purchasing and Project Management to schedule with transportation vendors and evaluate services rendered

·         Reviews open Purchase Orders and shares information with Purchasing in order to ensure arrival in time to match production schedules

·         Assists Purchasing and Project Management in the return or exchange of materials that are shipped incorrectly or become surplus to the project

·         Matches the materials received with the relevant Purchase Order exactly at the time of receiving

·         Verifies of material receiving and providing Accounts Payable with accurate documentation to allow them to make payments

·         Maintains the Purchase Order files in the receiving department and controlling all open Purchase Orders

·         Works with Quality Control to marl and identify material grades on all incoming orders

·         Arranges freight loads, shipping contacts

·         Ensures that receiving procedures will comply with the Company’ s Quality Control Program, Section 11

·         Inspects incoming coating products to verify that the products are within manufacturers; shelf life dates
